Montréal Wood Convention and NAWLA – A Winning Combination!
The Montréal Wood Convention and NAWLA join forces to create a first-class event that promotes win-win business relations between Canada and the United States. The registrations are brisk and indicate another record year with over 1000 participants.
People attend the Montréal Wood Convention because they know they can get a lot of things done in a short period of time. Suppliers from the West, East, and South come to the event and you will learn exactly what you want you need to know about the market conditions.
The 8th edition of the Montréal Wood Convention will take place from March 24 to 26, 2020, at the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth in Montréal, Canada. The key features include a CEO panel with leaders of the forest industry companies Eacom Timber and Carrier Lumber along with North-Americas largest wholesale lumber distributor Forest City Trading Group and member-owned retailer Do It Best. The respective CEOs will share their views on the challenges and opportunities for the wood products sector. To round off the event in style, a festive and relaxed “After-Convention” is back after its success in 2019.
The NAWLA regional meeting held in the afternoon on Tuesday, March 24th and hosted by Nicholson & Cates, will open the Convention. The focus will be on the women taking a prominent place in our industry.
There will be engaging speakers, a luncheon with the humor of Steve Patterson, the host of CBC Radio’s show the Debaters, a networking cocktail and the exhibitor hall with more than 100 booths. The industry seminar on the economy and markets takes place on Wednesday, March 25th, at 9 am in the Centre-Ville room. On the menu, a look at how strong the North American economy really is and what it means for the demand for forest products with Brendan Lowney, Principal at Forest Economic Advisors; from exclusive timber frame custom builder to industrialized construction for the quality-minded consumers with Tedd Benson, renowned author, building pioneer, founder and CEO of Bensonwood & Unity Homes; and strengthen the wood culture with Kevin McKinley, the new CEO of the Canadian Wood Council. The Mission of the Council is to expand market access and increase demand for wood products through excellence in codes, standards, regulations and education.
The Montréal Wood Convention has been organized since 2013 by the Maritime Lumber Bureau (MLB), the Ontario Forest Industries Association (OFIA), the Quebec Wood Export Bureau (QWEB), the Québec Forest Industry Council (QFIC), and the North American Wholesale Lumber Association (NAWLA) as a trusted partner of the event.
